It’s been a while since I blogged about what the hell is going on in my world.
Repo Year One – The birth of a cult
As many of you know I have been in the process of making a documentary about the Fandom surrounding Repo the Genetic Opera. It’s been almost two full years of gathering (literally) hundreds of hours of interviews, shadowcast footage and thousands of miles travelled. Now is my least favorite part…editing. I have to admit that I was hoping to be done by now, but with the dozens of shows that keep popping up every weekend, its difficult to put the camera down. This past weekend I shot at the Riverside, CA show, next weekend is in Sacramento, CA…and the weekend after that is Los Angeles and San Diego, CA. and in the past two months I have been to Oregon, New York and New Mexico. Needless to say other projects have taken the back burner to the doc…but it is coming along.
Puppet Eclipse
For the past two years Tammy and I have recruited a bunch of friends to help us make puppet versions of the Twilight films. With only a few weeks to go before Eclipse comes out, its time to decide if we should devote the time, money and energy to doing the next one. I admit that making puppet films is fun for me, and I love doing them, but it does take a lot of effort and time to do them right. And while I love it, neither my Repo doc nor the puppet film makes any money, so it’s difficult to justify doing more free work. So the real question is; Do YOU want to see another Twilight puppet film?
WICK – a short film by Micah Gallo
A year in post production has not slowed down our progress from bringing my first actual producing project into the world. Directed by Micah Gallo, on the Dalsa system I helped produce a short film called WICK. It’s a cerebral mindfuck kind of a film that has so much style it hurts my feelings! After months of work in many departments (producing, VFX, art department, production design…) starting this week, I will be sending out screeners to friends and festivals. I am really proud of what we accomplished. It is unlike anything I personally have ever done so it something very special to me. I hope to get to show you all what we accomplished on a tiny budget and a lot of ambition!
Secret Projects
I have about 4 secret projects in the works. So secret that only a select few people even know about them!
As soon as I can tell you more I will, but for now I will tease you with this…PUPPETS MONSTERS and HORROR!
