Hatchet 2 gets pulled from theaters

Category: bloghorror

Hatchet 2 is not alone; virtually every film gets jacked on the day of released. You can find bootlegs everywhere, and quite frankly it’s tempting to steal a movie when I am only marginally interested. Especially if the movie looks bad. I was arguing with a friend earlier today on why he thought it was “OK” to watch a streaming movie on an illegal torrent site. He said “I didn’t download it, so it’s not like I stole it, I just watched it”. Read More

Los Angeles Repo Shadowcast Report 04-24-09

Category: horrorrepo

In my ongoing coverage about the film Repo! The Genetic Opera, tonight’s event in Los Angeles was quite historic! This weekend marks the 5th month since its official release in November. In that time the film has gone from a weird horror rock opera and box office failure, to an event needing to be seen to believe. Across the North America Repo has been playing NON STOP every weekend since its initial release and the films popularity just continues to grow! Proof of that was seen tonight in San Antonio , with their monthly shadowcast and here in Los Angeles, with a special unannounced guest in attendance ANTHONY STEWART HEAD.

The Los Angeles Repo shows have been special for everyone involved, so it is no surprise that the film sold out, but even without announcing the special guest, the SOLD OUT line to get in was wrapped around the massive complex that houses the Sunset 5. Fans had come from all over, even from far away states for the show. Stars; Alexa Vega, Terrence Zdunich, and Darren Smith, director Darren Lynn Bousman, Music Producer Joe Bishara, DP Joseph White, and Producer Carl Mazzocone were ALL in attendance tonight!

The fans went crazy forming a mob at the sight of the Repo man himself, asking for autographs, taking pictures, and pledging their love to him. Tonight was the night That Anthony Head got to see the insanity that Repo has become… for his first time! Out in the lobby, before the film started, Star Terrence Zdunich was surrounded by adoring fans as well. I cannot even begin to tell you just how crazy the night began. You will have to see the pictures and video to get a grasp of what it was like.

But as cool as it is that Anthony Head showed up for the show, the real stars of the night were the local shadow cast called ADDICTED TO THE KNIFE. The night was truly theirs as they performed every minute of the film live on the stage. The 35+ person cast has come into their own with every move, motion and word rehearsed and performed to the exact moment of the screen. This could have been a Broadway stage play with the amount of effort and talent involved. Hats off to them for doing such and amazing and well put together job!

ATTK cast leaders Bernie Bregman and Vivianna Navarro opened the night with a performance of “Needle Through a Bug” “Come Up And Try My New Parts”, that was almost as good as going to a nudie bar…it was DIRTY! Then Bregman gave a special shout out to the other shadow casts across the country before getting everyone to all Pledge allegiance to REPO, even Anthony Head was chanting along! Bregman thanked everyone involved and even mentioned that LA is one of the places that Rocky Horror and Repo are allies and very cooperative of each other, a fact that is happening nationwide, even though a few old-timer’s don’t agree. I am told that history was made tonight as Co-creator Darren Smith, and recording musician CJ DeAngelus Jr. both performed along with the shadow cast.

I have now seen the film in the theater 29 times, and tonight was easily one of the best and most memorable. I cant even imagine where this is going, or what the other shadow casts are doing…but if I have my way I will find out first hand as I continue to document the fan phenomenon as it is happening. I myself have found my way into the Repo family, with my videos and blogs. To my surprise, people were chanting “Spooky” when Darren announced me, as one of the gang. Tonight’s Genetic Opera was “most certainly” THE PLACE TO BE!!!
